CHRIS BRANDON is believed to be close to joining home-city club Bradford.
The 32-year-old, who was released by Town at the end of the season, has had talks with Bantams boss Stuart McCall, who also has Town striker Luke Beckett in his sights.
Brandon, who started out at non-league Bradford Park Avenue before breaking into senior football with Torquay at 23, has also been interesting Leyton Orient, Oldham, Rotherham and his former club Chesterfield.
But Bradford appear to be the favoured destination for the midfielder or winger, who made 131 Town starts and 17 further appearances from the bench.
The Valley Parade deal could be struck this weekend, before Brandon, who scored 14 goals for Town including this season’s FA Cup winner against Birmingham, goes on holiday.
McCall is keen to bolster his squad for a tilt at promotion from League II after this season’s 10th-placed finish.
Beckett, Town’s top scorer for the last two seasons, is still thinking over a possible switch.
Meanwhile Bradford’s League II rivals Wycombe have appointed former England Under 21, Crystal Palace, Hull and Leicester boss Peter Taylor as manager.
