NEW team Britannia Sports Under 13s have hit the ground running by winning three tournaments in three weeks.

Churwell (Leeds), Scholes Park (Scarborough) and the Yorkshire Cup tournaments have not only been won but Britannia – formed only this close season – have remained unbeaten throughout.

They are coached by Neville Hamilton, who is currently going for his UEFA B badge, and the club has a Level 2 coach, a Level 1 coach and a fitness instructor.

Before the tournaments, the club went to the Costa Blanca to play two teams coached by ex-West Ham player Kenny Brown.

Britannia won both games in style, with Brown complimenting them on their professional approach and well-mannered behaviour, saying they would be welcome back any time.

Hamilton and Charley Stewart (club secretary) have recruited the players who, last weekend, were invited to Manchester City’s academy to train – later watching City play AC Milan. They have also had similar offers from Liverpool and Oldham.

Stewart said: “Bringing these lads together was quite a feat but keeping them will be even harder with Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Blackburn, Burnley, Leeds, Oldham and Town all interested in players.

“We will continue to develop these lads to the best of our ability and if we are creating a production line for the big clubs then so be it! We will always leave the door open for lads to return if they wish.

“I would also like to thank the players’ parents, who are a great bunch, and this contributed to the Fair Play Award success in the Yorkshire Cup”
