TOWN have been handed a bubbly incentive to win promotion this season!

Keen fans Chris Ramsden and John Smith from Mirfield have presented 25 bottles of Bollinger champagne to Peter Jackson and his team - to be kept on ice until they are in Division II.

"With Jon Stead being sold and last week's result against Darlington, we know there are a large number of disgruntled fans," said John, of SS Components, who sponsored the loan of Lee Ashcroft from Wigan Athletic during last season.

"We just want everyone to carry on being positive and give Ken Davy and his fellow directors the support they deserve."

Chris, of Ramsden's Butchers, added: "We hope the club will be able to keep the rest of the team together and push for a deserved and necessary promotion.

"We have every confidence in Peter and the team to gain promotion and, hopefully, we will be toasting their success."

Manager Jackson said: "It's a fantastic gesture and one which is really appreciated by us all.

"It just goes to show the fans want to play their part and are behind us, and Chris and John have given us something a little bit different to play for!"
