KIRKBURTON extended their undefeated run to 20 games after a 3-0 win against Crag Road United.

Manager Dean Calcutt’s side are now five points clear of second place South Bradford at the top of the West Riding County Amateur Football League Division I.

It took just two minutes for in-form Kirkburton to take the lead in a game controlled by the hosts at Gregory Playing Fields.

A long clearance from centre-back Brendan Aspinall found the head of Lee Bradley who flicked the ball on towards Ashley Flynn to score..

Burton then pushed for a second with Adam Wilson, Jordan Tindle, Ben Hughill and John Allison all going close.

The second half adopted a scrappy pattern with passes going astray and players holding onto the ball for too long before being dispossessed.

But, a frustrated Calcutt decided to make a series of substitutions, hoping to achieve a second goal.

Jordan Tindle was one man brought off, replaced by Calcutt himself, who managed to grab a further Kirkburton goal.

Chris Parker put the game beyond doubt after latching on to a rebounded shot aimed at the Crag net.

A place within the top half of the Northern Counties East League Division I continues to elude AFC Emley.

After the 3-1 defeat to Worsbrough Bridge at the Welfare Ground six days ago, Ray Dennis’s side returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win at Yorkshire Amateur.

But, with only two victories so far this year, Emley’s inconsistent form has proved to be a stumbling block in them moving into the top half of the league.

In their win at Yorkshire Amateur, Lee Hill scored his fifth goal of the season on seven minutes to put the visitors into the lead.

Gavin Birmingham increased Emley’s advantage early in the second half followed by two further efforts being ruled out for off-side.

Centre-back Graham grabbed a late goal for Yorkshire Amateur which turned out to be little more than a consolation.

Emley travel to face Worsbrough tonight (7.45) and then entertain Gedling Town at the Welfare Ground on Saturday (3.00).

AFC Emley: Green, Leech, Higginbottom, Battye, Hazelden (Sean), Hill, Joice, Townend, Laud, Birmingham. Subs: Buckwell, Hawthorne, Mann.
