Upbeat boss Chris Powell says Huddersfield Town have enough ability and self-belief to snap Brentford’s winning sequence.

The sides meet at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday with Town seeking a first win in five and their visitors plotting a sixth straight success.

That run has taken the Bees from 12th to third in the Championship and made Mark Warburton favourite for the November manager of the month award, to be announced tomorrow.

Just one point from 12 means Town have slipped to 19th, and Powell admitted: “The table doesn’t lie and we need a win.

“But there’s certainly no sense of panic. I believe in the group of players I have.

“We’ve been creating chances, but clearly we must start putting them away and we have players who can do that.

“We know we can produce the kind of performances required at this level – we did it against Nottingham Forest (beaten 3-0 at the start of November).

“Our home form has been good (three wins and three draws from the last six), so let’s keep it going.

“Concentration is key. We need to cut out mistakes and better manage those phases of games when we come under pressure.”

Powell is without Harry Bunn but is optimistic about his fellow thigh injury victim Sean Scannell.

Defender Joel Lynch is 50:50 to face Brentford after picking up a groin problem during last Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Bolton Wanderers.

Murray Wallace, Lee Peltier and Anthony Gerrard will all hope for a call if Lynch fails a fitness test.

Brentford have soon adapted to the higher level after last season’s promotion.

Powell said: “They have momentum, and they are in a position they will be enjoying.

“With the run they’re on, they’ll just want the next game to come along.

“We want to stop that run and we won’t need any cajoling to be up for this one.”
