CHAMPIONS Marsh United have set their sights on a title repeat with an unbeaten start to the new campaign.

And even at this early stage – two games played – they are the only 100% side in Division I.

They started with a narrow 5-4 win over Field Head but followed it up with an easier 3-0 win over Pak Rangers.

And it is something of a similar story in Division II with only Waterloo BC having won both their opening games, beating GMB Marsden and Helion 4-0 and 6-0 respectively.

Marsh United gained their 3-0 win over fancied Pak Rangers with strikes by Oliver Hughes (2) and Gary Lumb.

Rangers had the better of the first half and Abdul Hussain had a good chance well saved.

They alsto started well in the second half but then faded away and United stepped in to take the points.

There were shock defeats for last season’s Cup finalists, Craven and Woodfield Park.

Dryclough Recreation Ground side Craven were swamped on their visit to Black Bull at Skelmanthorpe as Liam Brothers (2), below, David Gill (2) and Scott Sykes brought them a 5-0 win.

If Craven were swamped, Park were deluged as Britannia Sports ran riot with strikes from Alex Pearson (2), Josh Redshaw (2), Bob Elliott, Danny Walker and Danny Walsh rattled in the goals in a 7-0 win.

Park had seven players missing from the previous week’s win over Black Bull because of holidays, but Britannia played some flowing football and deserved their 7-0 victory.

Waterloo BC romped to their second victory of the campaign, again without conceding a goal.

They are the only team in Division II to have won both their games, scoring 10 goals without reply in the process.

Last week’s win came at Almondbury High School as they beat new boys Helion 6-0.

Dave Woffenden netted a hat trick but could and should have had more, while Graham Pugh notched just before the break.

It was also celebration time for James Mwale who scored his first goal for the club from the penalty spot.

But the pick of the goals came from Jamie Lee Whittingham, whose superb strike from 35 yards proved too much for the Helion keeper.

White Swan and First Huddersfield won their opening games but couldn’t be separated when they clashed at Almondbury Recreation Ground as they finished 1-1.

Swan dominated the first half and should have scored but were denied on two occasions by posts. The misses could have proved costly as the busmen scored through Peter Leathwood.

Swan then pushed for an equaliser and despite brave defending by the busmen scored in the final minute.
