Bolton Wanderers owner Eddie Davies is set to make a decision on new ownership by the end of the week.

The Bolton News report that the Lancashire club want an agreement by Friday, which would leave them in a strong position to defend a winding up order at the High Court in London on Monday.

Voluntary administration, and the resulting 12 point deduction, has apparently been considered, but progress with prospective buyers means the club do not look likely to take that option.

Neil Warnock has made his first signing as Rotherham boss - snapping up former Crystal Palace, Leeds and West Brom winger Jerome Thomas.

The 32-year-old has joined the Millers until the end of the season after training with the club for over a fortnight.

Thomas had been a free agent since the end of last term but reportedly had offers from Asia and the USA.

Nottingham Forest have tied winger Oliver Burke to a new deal, keeping him at the City Ground for a further four and a half years.

There were rumours of a January departure and the club have seen off the speculation by offering the teenager a long term deal.

Midfielder Chris Cohen, who was out of contract in the summer, also signed a one year extension with Forest earlier today.

Chris Gunter is close to agreeing a new contract with Reading , the Chronicle report.

The right back's contract ends this summer and they face losing the 25-year-old for free in June.

However, manager Brian McDermott believes talks could be concluded any day now.
