Former Leeds United player and current Oldham Athletic manager John Sheridan has been installed as the favourite to take over at Elland Road.

The ex-midfielder is now the 1/6 favourite with the bookies to replace Steve Evans, who remains as head coach but is yet to be offered an extension to his contract, which finishes on June 30.

Fabio Cannavaro is available at 5/1 while former Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman is available at 6/1.

Sheffield Wednesday are considering a move for French defender Yohan Tavares according to reports.

Tavares, 28, currently plies his trade in Portugal with Estorial, but is out of contract this summer and has apparently informed his current club he wishes to move on.

Wednesday are apparently keeping a close eye on the player, who also has experience of Serie A and the Europa League.

According to the Bristol Post, the club's Player of the Year is in demand with Championship sides and he is out of contract.

However Chairman Steve Hamer still hopes to keep him.

He said: “There are several contracts to either be renewed or extended and we will be looking to resolve all of those issues as quickly as we can. I also anticipate that we will be inundated by agents who clients will see us as a more attractive propositions now are in League One."
