Two late goals from Steven Caulker and Tjarron Chery against Cardiff City were enough to send Queens Park Rangers to the top of the Championship on Sunday.

Former Bluebird Caulker headed home Jake Bidwell's cross before Chery converted from the spot after Sebastian Polter was brought down by Bruno Manga.

The hoops find themselves at the summit of the table ahead of Bristol City, Huddersfield and Fulham courtesy of a better goal difference.

Bristol City's find themselves second largely thanks to on-loan Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham's brace at newly-promoted Burton Albion while Fulham also made it back-to-back wins with an impressive 2-1 win over Preston North End.

Brighton and Hove Albion underlined their Championship credentials on Friday night with an impressive 3-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest as Norwich made up the top six after drawing at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Saturday also saw Aston Villa record their first win in over six months as the Villans became heroes by beating Rotherham United 3-0 with Rudy Gestede scoring twice and a third from Jack Grealish.

Reportedly in pursuit of Town's Nahki Wells, Derby County once again mis-fired at Barnsley as the Tykes claimed a well-earned 2-0 victory; Brentford beat Ipswich Town by the same scoreline to recover well from their opening day defeat at the John Smith's Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Walter Zenga Wolves Revolution continues unabated – making it three games unbeaten as they comfortably saw off Reading at Molineux.

And at the bottom of the table, Leeds United and Blackburn both look set for a season of toil - Rovers being convincingly beaten by Lancashire rivals Wigan while Garry Monk's side also remain pointless after losing at home to Birmingham City.
