Managerial appointments - or lack thereof - continue to dominate th Championship headlines.

QPR got their man in Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, but Fulham are yet to appoint a new boss after sacking Kit Symons a month ago.

However, Stuart Gray's odds to be confirmed as boss have plummeted after he took training at the club on Monday morning.

Gray left Sheffield Wednesday last June.

Reading are also in the market for anew manager after Steve Clarke was sacked last week, but it won't be Alan Stubbs - according to the man himself.

The Hibs chief has said the links are just "speculation" and he's heard nothing from the Royals.

If it isn't managerial speculation, it's player transfer speculation that is racking up the column inches.

Leeds United boss Steve Evans will advise the club t o sell Sam Byram in January should he continue to refuse offers of a new contract.

The 22-year-old's current deal runs out in the summer and he has turned down the latest offer of an extension.

Evans has got personally involved to try and change his mind, but is keen for Leeds to listen to bids for the defender in the January window should he stick to his stance.

Elsewhere, Derby County are said to be targeting a frontman in the winter window and a couple of suggestions have been mooted today.

Reading striker Nick Blackman and Norwich City's Lewis Grabban are apparently targets for the Rams.

Blackman has 11 goals for Reading so far this season but his current deal with the Royals expires in the summer. Grabban has made six appearances for the Canaries in the Premier League this term.

There's also talk of a "surprise" return to Brighton for former Seagull Liam Bridcutt.

The midfielder left the South Coast for Sunderland two years' ago, but is now back in the Championship on loan to Leeds.

However, if he becomes available on a permanent deal Chris Hughton could be interested in bringing him back to the Amex Stadium.

It's bad news on the injury front for Sheffield Wednesday who are s et to miss defender Tom Lees until the New Year.

Reports had suggested the Wales ace was being lined up to replace the departed Gary Neville, but ex-Liverpool legend Carragher poured cold water on the claims, instead revealing that there will be a weekly guest slot rather than a permanent new face.

David Nugent has the Premier League firmly in his sights. The Middlesbrough striker says he isn't satisfied playing in the Championship, and he chose Boro to play games and lead them to promotion.

He told the Gazette : “You don’t drop down a league just to be happy playing in the Championship.

“You drop down because you want get back into the Premier League and you think promotion is possible.
