Blackburn Rovers (Lancashire Telegraph)

Striker Rudy Gestede is in talks with Premier League side Aston Villa as he closes in on an Ewood Park exit.

A fee of around £7m is rumoured to have been agreed between the two clubs, despite Rovers' reluctance to countenance a deal.

But Gestede has made it clear he wishes to move on and now looks set to be granted his wish after Tim Sherwood targeted the 26-year-old Benin international to replace Christian Benteke at Villa Park.

Burnley (Lancashire Telegraph)

The Clarets are on the verge of tying up their fifth summer signing with the addition of Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker.

The fee is reported to be around £2m for the 24-year-old, who is seen as a replacement for Jason Shackell following his move to Derby County and will provide competition for Michael Duff, Michael Keane and Ben Mee.

Boss Sean Dyche has made no secret of his desire to continue adding to his squad as he plots an immediate return to the Premier League.

Sheffield Wednesday (The Star)

Highly-rated Portuguese striker Lucas Joao is set to seal a move to Hillsborough by the end of this week, with the Owls having agreed a fee in the region of £2m for the 21-year-old.

Joao, who plays for Nacional in his homeland, flew to England with his representatives yesterday to thrash out personal terms and is all set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal.

He actually took in Wednesday's 4-2 reverse at Scunthorpe United last night, with Atdhe Nuhiu and Marco Matias grabbing the goals.

Bolton Wanderers (The Bolton News)

Neil Lennon is closing in on the signing of Italian full-back Francesco Pisano, with the club in talks with the 29-year-old free agent.

Pisano was released at the end of last season by Cagliari but his interest in the defender will not dissuade him from also pursuing a deal for fellow right-sider Lawrie Wilson, as both are versatile to play further forward too.

The report also suggests that reported interest in ex-Parma striker Massimo Coda is wide of the mark and he is not currently being considered by the club.

Charlton Athletic (South London Press)

Addicks defender Rhoys Wiggins' proposed move to Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday has hit a snag, leaving the 27-year-old's future in limbo.

He had been expected to seal a switch to Hillsborough on Tuesday but it failed to materialise and it is believed that the issue is down to contractual terms.

Carlos Carvalhal is keen for the Owls to bring in a left-back as cover for the injured Claude Dielna and Wiggins is free to leave The Valley after Guy Luzon's move for Real Valladolid left-back Zakarya Bergdich.

Hull City (Hull Daily Mail)

Tigers boss Steve Bruce has moved to reassure supporters that the club are closing in on their transfer targets ahead of the new season, but would not be drawn on whether or not one of those was Brentford striker Gray.

He said: "I can assure supporters we are doing our best to make sure when the season starts we'll have a squad capable of getting to where we want to be.

"We're close to one or two things and let's hope we can get them done."

QPR (Get West London)

R's boss Chris Ramsey has handed former Reading goalkeeper and current Scotland U21 international Jonny Henly the chance to win a contract at Loftus Road.

The departure of Alex McCarthy to Crystal Palace has left Ramsey with a void to fill between the posts as he looks to offer competition to No.1 Rob Green.

Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley is also believed to be on the club's radar.
