ON-LOAN Town defender Tom Clarke made his Halifax debut in Saturday’s goalless Conference draw with Stafford Rangers at The Shay.

The match, 18th-placed Halifax’s sixth in the Blue Square Premier without a win, was Stafford’s first under new manager Steve Bull, the former Wolves and England striker.

The Shaymen, watched by 1,103, dominated proceedings but couldn’t make the breakthrough against a Stafford side who had won two on the trot.

The best chance fell to Jon Shaw on the hour, but his 12-yard shot came back off a post.

Chris Wilder’s side head for Nuneaton Borough in the Setanta Cup tomorrow and host Weymouth in a league game on Saturday.

Twenty-year-old Clarke’s fellow Town centre-back Shane Killock made his third appearance for Hyde United as they beat Worcester City 3-1 in the Blue Square North.

The Cheshire side are fifth, and in the play-off zone, after goals by David Morley (18 minutes), Chris Simm (36) and Gareth Seddon (63).

Killock, 18, was named man of the match for home team Hyde, who visit Redditch United for another league game tomorrow. Hucknall Town visit Ewen Fields on Saturday.
