MICHAEL COLLINS was the man on target as Town reserves drew 1-1 with Leicester City.

While Jon Worthington and Robbie Williams were in the spotlight as they continued their comebacks from injury – both played the full match last night – Collins, pictured, caught the eye with a neat 15th-minute finish.

The 21-year-old who is pushing for a return to the first-team starting XI played a neat one-two with fellow midfielder James Berrett and lobbed the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Town dominated the opening half of the Pontin’s Holidays League Central Division match at Hinckley’ Marston Stadium.

Collins came close to a second with a diving header from a Matt Young cross.

And Worthington and Young both had goalbound efforts blocked.

The visitors were made to rue those misses when Leicester levelled against the run of play a minute before the break.

The second half was more even, although Town came the closest to a winner with Williams twice trying his luck from distance.

Tom Clarke completed 85 minutes without any reaction in the left knee which needed a reconstruction operation a year ago.

But he was brought off as a precaution after taking a kick on the ankle.

“It was a decent all-round team display,” said Reserves coach John Dungworth.

“The equaliser flattered Leicester, and although they came into it more in the second half, we were the stronger.

“Jon Worthington and Robbie Williams are looking sharper with each game they play and it was good to see Tom Clarke back in action.”

Town’s home reserve clash with Port Vale will take place on Wednesday, January 9 (2.00), 24 hours after it was originally scheduled.
