MICHAEL COLLINS today revealed the force which is powering Town's renewed promotion challenge.

"The main thing which is driving me on is the fear of a bad performance," said the 19-year-old midfielder.

"I realise, and we've seen it with other players, that one bad game and you could be out, simply because of the strength in depth of our squad.

"It means you've got to stay focused on your own performance to keep the shirt for the next week."

Collins, whose idols are Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, paid tribute to Peter Jackson's managerial style and to the skipper, Jon Worthington.

"Even when I was out of the side, the manager kept calling me in for chats and telling me I was still very much part of his plans," he explained.

"When you are not part of the team, you can soon feel you don't figure, but I never felt I wasn't a part of his plans and that helped me keep my chin up.

"Now, I just want to help the club move forward, and I know there's a hell of a lot more to come from me - at least another 40% because I'm still learning the game and only just starting to express myself.

"I think myself and Jon Worthington complement each other in midfield and he's a big help to me.

"He's come through the Academy, he knows what I'm going through at the moment and he's always encouraging me on the pitch. He's a great role model to be playing alongside."
