After an impressive win over Queens Park Rangers last weekend, Huddersfield Town are back on the road at Reading FC this Saturday.

David Wagner's men go into the game seeking a seventh win in nine which would guarantee Town remain top of the Championship.

But a win against the Royals will be no mean feat at the Madejski Stadium – Jaap Stam's side are unbeaten at home this season as well as undefeated in seven matches in all competitions.

Both sides are also more than familiar with each other – having met four times last season, the two league games sandwiched between FA Cup clashes which Reading eventually won after a replay.

Ahead of the clash, the Examiner looks at a few of the other interesting club connections between the two clubs through the years, with the top 4 club links outlined below.

The midfielder started his career at Mansfield Town but never made an appearance for the club before joining Huddersfield Town in 1977.

The winger went on to help Town to two promotions under Mick Buxton (in 1980 and 1983) and is affectionately remembered for scoring two goals in the 1982–83 season: the winner against Leeds United in the League Cup and the only goal of the game against Newport County which secured their promotion to the Second Division.

After spending over a decade in West Yorkshire, he briefly signed for Reading in 1988, making 10 appearances for the Royals.

  2. Craig Maskell

Moving to Huddersfield Town from Southampton in 1988, the forward went on to score 54 goals in 108 appearances for Town and was later included in the 100 best Huddersfield Town players as voted for by fans as part of their 2006 centennial celebrations.

Maskell then moved to the Royals in 1990, spending two years at the Berkshire club, scoring 26 goals in 72 appearances.

The goalkeeper joined Reading from Chelsea for £15,000 in 1987 where he went on to play more than 200 games for the club, winning the club's Player of the Year award in the 1986–87 season.

Francis then joined Huddersfield Town in 1993, becoming their first-choice keeper where he helped Neil Warnock's side win promotion from the third tier in 1995.

After falling out of favour early in the 1997-98 season, Francis eventually left to join Northampton Town in January 1999.

  4. Phil Stant

The forward made four appearances for Reading during the 1982-83 season before taking time out to pursue his military career.

After returning to the professional football at the age of 24 with Hereford United in 1989, Stant had a brief spell on-loan with Huddersfield Town in 1991, making 5 appearances and scoring one goal.
