Conor Coady says the stability at Huddersfield Town was a big attraction for him and played a big part in him penning a three-year deal.

The 21-year-old switched from Liverpool today and said: “I’m made up; when I heard Huddersfield wanted to sign me, it was immediately interesting.

“The last few days have been very exciting for me. I’ve been away (in the USA with Liverpool) and I couldn’t wait to get home and get the move sorted. I’m really happy to be here.”

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers smoothed the way for his move.

Huddersfield Town is a fantastic club that has produced some great players,” he added. “There’s real stability here thanks to some very good people.

“The club has a track record of developing players, so when I heard about the interest there was only one place I wanted to come.”

Coady wants to build on what he achieved at Sheffield United last season .

“This club has big ambitions, something I want to be a part of,” he explained.

“I want to help Town progress up the Championship table. With the players that are here, who knows where it can take us?

“It’s a very young and athletic team here and it’s clear what the club is building. Hopefully I can come in and add to that. I know a lot of the Liverpudlian lads that are already at the club; there are some really top players here. I know the manager likes to play a style of football that focuses on possession and that is something I like to do too.

“Huddersfield play their own style of football; they move the ball around the pitch really well. That should suit my style; I like to get on the ball and move things forward. I want to create goals and score goals, but equally I can contribute defensively.”

Coady has taken the No10 shirt and is looking to make his debut against Bournemouth on Saturday.

“I’m really pleased we’re at home on the opening day!

“I’ll have my first day of training, which I’m really excited about, and then we’ll push on to Saturday. It’s a massive game to start the season.”
