STORTHES HALL and Golcar United had to settle for a point each after a pulsating eight-goal thriller in the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division derby clash.

United took the lead on 12 minutes when Richard Bray turned a cross into his own net but Hall equalised two minutes later when Liam Rothery deflected Matt Poulain's drive past goalkeeper Howard Wadsworth.

Hosts Hall were forced to make early changes with injuries to Lee Mozley and Chris Margis but they forced the pace and went close when Matt Mulvihill crashed a strong effort against the bar.

Hall regained the lead with a Tunnacliffe penalty on 35 minutes and just before the break Mulvihill's lob was missed by teammate Tom Fleming but, with United keeper Wadsworth wrong-footed, the ball found the far corner for a 3-1 lead.

United pulled a goal back through former Hall player Leigh Holmes when he headed in a free kick on 47 minutes but Hall responded when Steve Slack drove in a neat back heel from Chris Drew.

But United were not done yet! They scored twice in six minutes to level at 4-4.

Andrew Allison fired a low shot into the corner and James Gledhill converted a penalty to set up a grandstand finish, but the deadlock could not be broken.

And there were also goals galore for Bay Athletic in their 5-5 draw at home to Wibsey.

Local stalwart Charlie Bradshaw (4) and Barry Howe were on target for Bay.

The visitors stormed into 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes before Bay finally found a finishing touch courtesy of former Emley player Bradshaw, who steered Bay into a 4-2 lead.

Wibsey pulled a goal back before Howe added a fifth on 70 minutes.

But this end-to-end game was still not decided as Wibsey pulled another goal back then, with two minutes remaining, a half-hit clearance fell to a Wibsey player whose shot from 22 yards was going wide until it deflected off a defender and off a Wibsey player's shoulder to leave keeper Graham McLachlan stunned.

In Division I, Kirkburton have begun an ascent of the table after picking up 12 points from their last six games - their latest victory a 3-2 win at home against Keighley Shamrocks.

Burton took the lead inside three minutes when Lee Bradley's precision pass picked out new signing Tom Kemp, who blasted into the roof of the net from 20 yards.

Chris Parker out-jumped the keeper to head home from close range to give Burton a 2-0 lead.

Further chances fell to Burton's Bradley and Steve Chandler but Keighley kept pressing and pulled a goal back on 74 minutes when keeper David Walsh made a tremendous double save but the ball fell to Keighley striker Brady who slotted home from close range.

Burton finally got a third goal when a super pass from Chandler picked out Bradley, who shrugged off a challenge from the centre-back and finished with a tremendous shot into the roof of the net.

The Shamrocks were not going down without a fight and nearly got their second, but man-of-the-match Walsh pulled off a fine save.

Walsh was soon in action again with another great save from a powerful strike.

Keighley were awarded a dubious penalty on 83 minutes and up stepped Rollins to send Walsh the wrong way.
