DANNY WARD looked ahead to another promotion tilt with Town and promised fans: “There’s plenty more to come from me.”

After successive League I play-off final defeats, the 19-year-old winger who has switched from Bolton is desperate to cement a climb into the Championship.

“Everything about this move is right,” said Ward, who was born in Bradford and came through the academy system at Leeds.

“I want to play regular first-team football rather than little bits here and there, and I think I’ll have the opportunity to earn that chance with Town.

“There’s no comparison between playing reserve football and turning out at our stadium in front of our fans, and when it came to the crunch, that’s what swayed it.”

Ward, who has penned a three-year contract with an option for a further 12 months, scored four goals in 10 appearances last season.

Having netted in open play and the penalty shoot-out in the play-off semi second leg against Bournemouth, he then played in the Old Trafford final against Peterborough.

He was in the Swindon side beaten by Millwall in the previous year’s final when loaned out by Bolton.

“I’d started pre-season training at Bolton, but then learned of Huddersfield’s interest through my agent and quickly began talks,” explained Ward, who has also played for Coventry on loan.

“I thought the move over at length and talked things through with my parents and my agent and I’m convinced I’m doing the right thing, especially having got a feel for the club last season.

“The players, the staff and the fans were all brilliant, and the way the supporters got behind me gave me a real boost.

“I wasn’t here for the longest time, but I loved every minute. I was made to feel welcome from day one, and we played some good football.

“There’s plenty more to come from me in a Huddersfield shirt – hopefully this season. I can’t wait to get going.”

Ward trained with his teammates yesterday and is in line to figure in tonight’s friendly against Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.
