TOWN chiefs will discuss the Robbie Williams situation at a full board meeting tomorrow.

A hairline shin fracture suffered during a Barnsley training session has ruled out the immediate completion of a move for the 22-year-old, who had agreed a three-year contract.

But boss Andy Ritchie remains keen to bring in the left-sided player at some stage.

Ritchie, who worked with Williams when in charge at Barnsley, explained: “Robbie is likely to be sidelined for two months or more.

“That means his return to fitness will probably come after the closure of the first transfer window (at the end of August).

“We would then have to wait until January to do a permanent deal.”

Ritchie, assistant John Dungworth and coach Martyn Booty have held preliminary discussions with vice-chairman Andrew Watson.

Ritchie added: “We’ve worked through our options so the board can decide how to proceed.

“The most important thing is that we do what is best for the club.”
