PETER JACKSON is refusing to dwell on Town's FA Cup exit, but he admits it hurts.

The manager knows the thrill of leading Town all the way to a fifth round replay during his first spell in charge (they eventually lost to Derby County) but, since returning to spark a huge resurgence at the club and win promotion, he has fallen both times at the first-round stage.

Last season in was Accrington; now Stockport.

And Jackson - who sends the Reseves to York tonight (7.00) - knows how disappointing that is for the fans.

"Everybody loves the excitement of the FA Cup," he said today. "I love it, the players love it and the fans love it.

"No matter how you look at it, the Cup is different. You get a special buzz from it and you desperately want to do well.

"We were no different on Saturday. We prepared well and we went over to Stockport confident of taking our chance to progress, but we blew it.

"Unfortunately, in the Cup, you only get one chance and to miss out this time is a big, big disappointment.

"The supporters will be bitterly disappointed and rightly so, but we mustn't let it cloud the fact we've made a good start in the League.

"We have got plenty to play for and plenty to look forward to and we've got to put this behind us and remain positive about everything we do."
