TOWN keeper Simon Eastwood enjoyed a clean sheet as England Under 19s drubbed Belarus 4-0 at Meadow Lane last night.

Febien Brandy (5), Andy Carroll (15) and Lee Sawyer (19) put England in command with goals inside the first 20 minutes.

And Topi Obadeyi completed the scoring on the hour to ensure Brian Eastick’s side warmed up in style for next month’s European Championship preliminary qualifiers against Belgium, Iceland and Romania.

So dominant were England, in fact, that Eastwood – who was watched for part of the game by Town manager Andy Ritchie – had barely touched the ball when he was called upon to make a cracking save just before the break.

A thunderous shot from Andrei Varenkou from just outside the box looked destined for the roof of the net, but Eastwood confidently tipped it over.

England played the last 20 minutes with 10 men after Sawyer was shown a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Belarus skipper Pavel Hrechyshka.

England Ladies drew 2-2 with Japan in their opening match of the Women’s World Cup in China.
