AFC EMLEY climbed to eighth in the Northern Counties East League First Division with a 2-1 derby win at Brighouse Town.

Trailing to Wayne Crossley’s 11th-minute strike, Ian Banks’ side came from behind with two goals in three minutes.

First ex-Halifax Town striker Andy Farrell powered home a header in the 22nd minute, then Antony Leech’s shot was deflected in.

In a match watched by a bumper 340 crowd, AFC had to withstand second-half pressure to maintain their lead.

Due to Glasshoughton’s continued FA Vase involvement, AFC’s scheduled fixture tomorrow has been postponed.

And Saturday’s trip to Tadcaster Albion is in doubt because of flooding in that area.
