Our HTSA column last week touched upon the subject of regional supporters groups and their recent cosmic rise in popularity.
The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) can probably demonstrate whether this is due to colliding Black Holes over Bexleyheath or the supernova that is the Northern Powerhouse.
Either way it was great to see shooting stars shining brightly over the forest last week, our continuing ‘new hope’?
The result may not have altered Town’s position in the table but any gravitational waves are definitely fading with the increasing points gap.
Over recent seasons, HTSA have hosted a charity 5-a-side Football Tournament and planning for the ‘next generation’, 2015-16 and beyond, has already begun.
The format will consist of qualifying leagues leading up to the final play-off Armageddon.
Trophies will be presented to the winning team and there will be awards for the ‘Player of the Tournament’ as well as the coveted ‘Golden Balls’.
Please be assured that neither age nor ability should be a barrier to entry.
The invitation extends to all local groups and organisations, but we are particularly keen to attract our growing band of ‘extra-terrestrial’ Terriers, groups from across the force-fields of the footballing frontiers.
This promises to be yet another enjoyable and very worthwhile ‘Enterprise’, a ‘close encounter’ of the social kind.
In the first instance we need expressions of interest so; if you have an occasional kick about with workmates or you are looking for an excuse to meet up with old school friends, please get in touch.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recovering P4P7 team reunion?
R2-D2s, Zygons, Cybermen and even complete Daleks are all welcome. Oh to be an Obi-Wan Kenobi Terrier?
To register your interest or if you are a local business and you would like to support this galactic tournament, please contact the Master and HTSA Treasurer, John Sealey, on firstname.lastname@example.org
John will send an information pack and sponsorship details by return.
The venue and dates for this tournament have still to be finalised but we are provisionally looking at the Bank Holiday weekend of May 28-30.
As for previous tournaments, entry will be free of charge, but teams will be required to pledge a donation of £50 to a nominated charity.
A prize of £250 awaits the HTSA member who holds the following numbers, (4)3646.
If your HTSA membership card is up to date and shows this, or (246)3646, £250 is yours. Please send details of your full name and postal address by text to 07725 036109 or by email to email@example.com before 19.08 on Friday, February 19.
You will receive your cheque by return of post. The winning number last week was (2)2113, or (246)2113: the winner was C Beever.
Finally, don’t forget to book your seats on the HTSA coach to Derby County or Leeds United and, hopefully, claim the £250 Travel Draw prize.
