Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward picked up a Europa League runners-up medal in Basel on Wednesday night after a 3-1 defeat to Sevilla.

The young stopper is hotly tipped for a season-long loan to Huddersfield Town, with Jurgen Klopp keen for him to get first team Championship football to aid his chances of a future at Anfield.

He has already made his Premier League debut under Klopp and would have added more but for a minor knock towards the end of the domestic campaign.

However, he recovered from injury in time to take his place on the bench for the showpiece final in Switzerland.

Ward has impressed on his senior appearances for the Reds but there is an admission he needs regular games to develop.

And a spell under Wagner to adjust to the rigours of the English professional game would be the ideal destination.

Welsh international Ward was between the sticks for penalty practice ahead of the final against La Liga outfit Sevilla, with Klopp keen to prepare for the possibility of a shootout.
