Huddersfield Town experienced further away day blues as they fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Everton FC this afternoon.

After an opening 45 minutes of little quality from either side, the game sparked into action when Gylfi Sigurdsson opened the scoring for the hosts in the 48th minute.

And in a tactical shuffle to respond, David Wagner introduced Steve Mounié to partner Laurent Depoitre upfront – only to fall further behind minutes later.

A through ball from Wayne Rooney, a thorn in Town's side throughout, saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin expertly chip Jonas Lossl in the Terriers goal to double the Blues' advantage.

Town now sit 15th in the Premier League table, having just won once away in nine attempts in all competitions and failing to score since the opening day of the season.

Here we'll hear from both the bosses as they reflect on this afternoon's Premier League encounter.

That's A Wrap!

David Wagner has now left after a rather short and frank assessment of today’s defeat - next Saturday against Brighton & Hove Albion becomes even more important for the side now.

On confidence...

It’s probably the first time this season away from home the confidence has probably dropped but it will come back if we focus on ourselves...

  • Share

On away support

This was extraordinary and the fans have been able to perform consistently - sadly we have not.

  • Share

On home form...

Next Saturday against Brighton is a great opportunity and we will like to bounce back at home with our home form excellent. This group has been written-off so many times and come back in the past - they just have to be focused on themselves.

On current form

I’m disappointed about the game today - this today is one of the most as we didn’t perform in the offence and they didn’t create and show it.

It isn’t about previous results - every defeat has it’s one story.

But quality and creativity grows with goals and success - I understand the problem but we have to be focused on us to make ourselves better and we will keep on fighting to do that.

David Wagner on the loss...

It was a disappointing afternoon for us - it wasn’t a nice football match but I thought at half-time we would get something from it. But Everton had a little bit more creativity in the offensive than us and that is the disappointment...

Next Up - David Wagner!

So ‘Big Sam’ exits and he’s pretty much taking credit for the mid-week over West Ham United as well as today’s victory over Town - he’s in typical bullish and confident mood but the key point is the fact Town never threatened his defence this afternoon...

On first win...

I felt this job was a dream one for me and getting a win in my first game is great - think it took me six games to get one at Crystal Palace. Let’s hope it is onwards and upwards now!

On Christmas and New Year period...

It’s going to be a tough battle and it’s important to get as many players back fit as soon as possible.

  • Share

On His Reception...

It was a fantastic reception and now it’s up to me to get Everton back to where they should be - I knew they were a good side before I came.
But with players getting injured and the amount of games that they have had to play has really taken it’s toll so far.

On Back-To-Back Wins

It moves us up the table and takes the pressure off everyone. Now it’s about getting players back fit and injury-free before the January window.

On Everton's Defence...

While Huddersfield Town had a lot of possession they didn’t really trouble our defence and it was a solid performance.

  • Share

Second-Half Tactical Change...

I told Glyfi (Sigurdsson) and Aaron (Lennon) not to go too far back and push forward in the second period and it got Glyfi the goal...

Sam Allardyce...

Big Sam has just entered...
