Huddersfield Town have a team’s worth of players out of contract this summer.

But Mark Robins says his entire squad should be out to impress day in, day out.

Chris Atkinson, Ian Bennett, Harry Bunn, captain Peter Clarke, Matt Crooks, Cristian Lopez, Paul Mullin, Anton Robinson, Keith Southern, Murray Wallace, Danny Ward and Calum Woods are the players wondering where their immediate future lies.

While it’s been made clear that Spanish striker Lopez and midfielder Robinson, currently out on loan at Northampton and Coventry respectively, won’t be kept, boss Robins isn’t divulging whether decisions have yet been made on the others.

But ahead of the big Championship test at Derby, he pointed out: “There’s plenty to play for, both for those who are out of contract and those who aren’t.

“I need players to give their best day in, day out, to strive to learn and improve all the time.

“If any player doesn’t perform in the manner we require, he has no future at the club.

“My total focus at this stage is on the five games which remain (after Derby, it’s Brighton at home on Good Friday, Yeovil away on Easter Monday, Leicester at home on April 26 and Watford away on May 3).

“That’s five games for players to roll their sleeves up and get on with the job.

“For the lads who are out of contract, they know they need to perform not just to impress me, but also to impress any potential suitors should their deals not be renewed.”

Robins, of course, is seeking a big response in the wake of Tuesday’s dismal 2-0 home defeat by Ipswich.

His side are 17th and without a win in eight, and the manager insisted: “We’re going there to do a job and to do it properly.

“Tuesday’s performance was tough to watch, and now I want whoever is selected to go out and show they warrant that selection.

“First and foremost it’s about working hard for the club and the fans, and we want to win back their respect.

“Our policy is to excite our fans, not antagonise them.”
