HALIFAX have completed the signing of former Town skipper Jon Worthington.

And the Blue Square North club have bolstered their midfield further by bringing in Chris Worsley, who helped Hyde win last season’s league title and a place in the Blue Square Premier.

Worthington, 29, came through the Town academy and made 237 appearances, scoring 13 goals, before a 2009 move to Oldham.

His two-year spell at Boundary Park included loan stints at Fleetwood and Bradford (he had spent time at Yeovil while with Town).

Worthington spent last season at Blue Square Premier side Mansfield but struggled to establish himself at Field Mill.

He will link up with former Town keeper Phil Senior at The Shay.

Worsley, who starred in the Curzon Ashton side who beat Exeter in the 2008-09 FA Cup, played 30 times for Hyde last season, scoring three goals.

Boss Neil Aspin, who took Halifax to last season’s Blue Square North play-offs, has already brought in defender Ben Futcher on a season-long loan from League I Bury as well as striker Dale Johnson from Droylsden.

Formed after the original Shay club went into administration in 2008, FC Halifax Town have worked their way up from the Evo-Stik (Northern Premier League) First Division North.
