MORECAMBE manager Sammy McIroy is delighted to have completed the permanent signing of former Town striker Phil Jevons.

The 30-year-old Liverpudlian top-scored with 19 on loan to the West coast League II side last season.

Now the former Everton, Grimsby, Yeovil and Bristol City man has signed a two-year deal at Morecambe, who have just moved to a new stadium.

McIlroy, whose right-hand man is former Town player and coach Mark Lillis, said: “Last season, Phil showed just what a quality striker he is.

“He is an experienced player who has a real eye for goal and we are delighted he is back with us on a permanent deal.”

Jevons, who bagged 11 goals in 50 Town games, said: “I really enjoyed my football again at Morecambe last year.

“I think we surprised a few people by getting to the play-offs and I think we can carry on that success this season.

“I’m looking forward to playing at the new stadium and being part of what should be an exciting time for the club.”
