DELROY FACEY is keen to open his goal account against Stockport tomorrow knowing Town want to extend his loan to the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Hull City frontman has failed to register in three starts since returning to his hometown club and would love to put that right against the League I basement strugglers.

Three points would edge Town closer to safety before the big Easter double-header against Hartlepool and Sheffield Wednesday and manager Peter Jackson expects Facey to play a big part.

"Delroy has got three more games left with us in this loan spell and we are trying to extend it to the end of the season, with a view to a permanent deal," said Jackson, who will play club captain Rob Edwards at left-back for the suspended Tom Clarke.

"Even though other clubs have shown an interest in Delroy, he's happy with us, happy to stay and I've been happy with him."

Facey's last goal in Town colours was at the Galpharm in a 2-1 win against Port Vale in April 2002, and a similar outcome tomorrow would suit Jackson and the fans.

"It's a big pressure game for us and we are aiming to get right after Stockport from the start," said Jackson, who must wait for fitness checks on midfielders Tony Carss and Danny Schofield (groins).

"We will be fielding a largely young side again and I'm sure our fans, realising the importance of the match to us, will show their passion by giving the lads some tremendous vocal backing.

"Results away from home have not been what we would have wanted, but here at the Galpharm we are performing well and we need to keep that going tomorrow."

Should Carss miss out, Jackson has options on selection, including a recall for leading marksman Pawel Abbott, who was dropped to the bench last weekend.

"If he plays, it would be just like Pav to get a couple of goals and win us the match," he added.

Midfielder Lee Fowler is also back in the squad and he could well feature at some stage.
