TOWN supporters have been urged to book early for the pre-season trip to Ibiza.

Peter Jackson's squad are making the Copa De Ibiza a key part of their preparations for the 2005-06 season.

The event is being held from July 9-16 on the Balearic island and the more Town fans who go, the lower the club's costs will be.

Supporters must note, however, that tickets to the games - the other clubs involved are Coventry City, QPR and an Ibiza Island XI - are available only to those booking official tour packages through PlayHARD Sports.

Anyone wanting to watch at the 1,500-capacity stadium in San Antonio as part of their own holiday will be disappointed.

"We've had feedback from supporters who know people planning to make their own way and wanting to pay on the gate, but they will not be able to get into the games," said an event spokesman.

"There was a similar problem with some fans last year (when Sheffield Wednesday and Watford took part) and they had to go away disappointed.

"Fans booking official packages with PlayHARD Sports take the bulk of the tickets, but any that are remaining are distributed to the local fans and schoolchildren well beforehand.

"There are no surplus tickets and there is no pay on the gate facility, so it's not an option for people on holiday nearby just to front up and get into the matches - they will be disappointed."

Town manager Peter Jackson will take a full first-team squad to the tournament, which features plenty of social events for supporters in addition to the matches (Town will play two matches, the first a knockout tie and the second either the third-place play-off or the final, which is on the Thursday).

Packages are available from just £319 for the week and include match tickets, and information packs are available from PlayHARD Sports on 01943 464297.

"The response from Huddersfield fans has been huge and we have sent out a lot of information packs," added the spokesman.

"We would encourage people wanting to book to do so as quickly as possible, though, to avoid any disappointment."

Bronze packages are £319 in the Hotel Mitjorn. Silver packages in the Jovial Apartments are £349 and the Gold package in the three-star Hotel Riviera costs £379.

Town manager Jackson said: "It's got the makings of an excellent week for the squad and for the fans.

"It's great to hear our supporters will be out there in force to back us and, for the players, the event provides us with matches against top opposition to start oiling the wheels for the new season."
