CHAIRMAN Ken Davy heaped praise on Town and the Giants after “a fantastic weekend for Huddersfield sport.”
The boardroom chief was at the Galpharm to see Town defeat Leeds United 1-0 and then stayed in touch by telephone as the Giants launched Super League XIV with a fine 30-8 victory against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.
“The victory over Leeds was absolutely stunning and then to round things off with a wonderful win for the Giants made it a very memorable Valentine’s Day for all sports fans in this town,” said Davy.
“The atmosphere at the Galpharm was just electric and was a tribute to the whole direction the club is going in.
“I’m very excited about what’s been achieved so far and about what we hope will be achieved in the months and years to come.
“It’s almost 80 years since we did the double over Leeds and we’ve now beaten them three times in succession, which is something for everyone to savour.”
On the Giants, he added: “To beat the French on French soil has been difficult since Agincourt, and many observers didn’t think we had a chance of winning, so it was a wonderful job done.
“To launch the Super League campaign in such a way is magnificent for everyone and Nathan Brown is creating a terrific atmosphere at the club.
““Everyone has a smile on their face.”
