FC HALIFAX Town have added a home date with Barnsley to their pre-season schedule.

David Flitcroft’s Championship side will visit The Shay on Tuesday, July 30 as Neil Aspin’s side continue the countdown to their Conference campaign.

Barnsley, who clinched second-tier survival with a dramatic last-day draw at Huddersfield last month, are the highest-level side among Halifax’s friendly opponents.

Northern Premier League new boys Scarborough come to West Yorkshire on Saturday, July 6 before Halifax head to neighbours Brighouse Town, of the Northern Counties East League, on Tuesday 9.

It’s League II side Rochdale at home on Saturday 13 and North West Counties League Clitheroe away on Tuesday 16.

Aspin’s side make trips to two of last season’s Conference North rivals, Bradford Park Avenue and Altrincham, on Tuesday 23 and Saturday 27 respectively.

And Stockport, relegated to the Conference North, are the visitors on Saturday, August 3, four days after the Barnsley game.

Boss Aspin will learn his promoted side’s Conference fixture list a week on Friday, July 5.

Halifax will be playing on an improved Shay pitch, with a £10,000 improvement programme ongoing.
