FC Halifax Town manager Neil Aspin is hoping to conclude a deal to sign up former Huddersfield Town winger Danny Schofield, who has been on trial at The Shay.
The Shaymen begin their Vanarama Conference Premier campaign at Dover Athletic on Saturday after completing their pre-season build up with a 4-0 win at Buxton.
And Aspin is happy that his squad are pretty much in place.
“There won’t be anyone else coming in this week,” said Aspin.
“We are obviously still trying to sort something out with Danny Schofield, but I can’t see there being anyone else to come in.
“I certainly wouldn’t bring any players this week who haven’t had any game time, so we’ll be picking from the players that were available at Buxton for the Dover trip.”
Aspin’s squad reached the play-offs last season but wasn’t about to prejudge the coming campaign, despite having had a very positive pre-season run.
“Well pre-season is what it is, you take some good things, some bad things,” said Aspin.
“Every pre-season is different but it’s got no bearing on the start of the season. “You can win every game, you can lose every game, it’s how you start the season that matters.
“But we are obviously playing teams who have also had a good pre-season and I believe Dover have been unbeaten and have done really well.”
Aspin was more concerned that his squad was in good shape to start the campaign and added: “I think fitness wise we are fine.”
