FC HALIFAX Town have been dealt a blow after Fleetwood recalled striker Alex Titchener from his Shay loan.

The 21-year-old scored a hat trick as Droyslden were dispatched 4-1 in last Saturday’s Blue Square North clash.

Boss Neil Aspin said he was keen to keep hold of the former Crewe, Colwyn Bay and Witton player for the remainder of the season.

But rather than be involved in Halifax’s home FA Trophy first-round clash against Altrincham tomorrow, Titchener is in contention for Fleetwood’s League II game at Dagenham and Redbridge.

The Lancashire side have made an impressive start to life in the Football League after last season’s Blue Square Premier title success.

With a squad including ex-Huddersfield Town men Damien Johnson and Jon Parkin, they are fourth in the table.

Titchener, a close-season signing by manager Micky Mellon, has made two appearances from the bench, against Rochdale in the league and Morecambe in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

While Halifax aim to reach the last 32 of the Trophy, Brighouse Town will aim to keep the pressure on Baris Northern Counties East League leaders Bridlington Town with a derby win at Liversedge.

Brid, who have a three-point advantage, go to Long Eaton United.
