FC Halifax Town are tonight playing for the prize of meeting Chelmsford City in the last 16 of the FA Trophy.

Neil Aspin’s Blue Square North battlers entertain Maidstone United at The Shay (7.45) in their second-round tie which was held over from Saturday, when the pitch wasn’t playable.

Chelmsford play in the Blue Square South and, should the Shaymen get through, they will again be at home on January 12.

Chelmsford are riding high at the moment, having ditched Blue Square Premier and former Football League side Hereford United 3-0 on their own Edgar Street patch at the weekend.

Aspin, whose side are sixth in the league table, will be hoping to book that January date against them, although he knows Maidstone will be far from a pushover, even though they play in the Ryman League (Isthmian) Division I South.

Warren Whitely has had his loan spell at Maidstone extended by another month.
