FC Halifax Town are being linked with Huddersfield forward Max Leonard as they prepare for tomorrow’s Skrill Conference home clash with Forest Green Rovers.

The 19-year-old has come through the academy at the Shaymen’s neighbours, but is one of four development squad players being released at the end of this month.

Leonard, who has been deployed both up front and in midfield, has played for Huddersfield’s Under 18 and Under 21 sides and also had a loan stint at Garforth Town last year.

The other three not to have their contracts renewed are defenders James Burke and Robbie McIntyre and midfielder Dale Hopson, who has already joined Darlington.

Neil Aspin’s 10th-placed Shaymen aim to build on last Saturday’s 2-1 win at Dartford when they face Forest Green in the first of three games in eight days.

Halifax go to Gateshead on Boxing Day and are at home to Lincoln a week tomorrow, but first aim to pile on the frustration for Forest Green.

The 12th-placed Gloucestershire side, managed by ex-Bournemouth and Gillingham player Ady Pennock, were knocked out of the FA Trophy at home to lower-level Chorley on Tuesday.

Brighouse Town aim to bounce back after their disappointing last-gasp FA Vase loss to Whickham in Gateshead when they host Parkgate tomorrow at the Dual Seal Stadium in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
