FC HALIFAX Town kept alive their bid for promotion by returning to winning ways with a 3-1 victory against Vauxhall Motors.

The Shaymen got off to the best possible start when Scott McManus bundled home a cross from Ryan Toulson.

Halifax continued to dominate possession throughout the game and were rewarded in the second-half when Dan Gardner drilled home a well hit effort from the edge of the box.

Neil Aspin then brought on Lee Gregory and the striker quickly made his mark on the game when he swept home from five yards.

And he could have made it four moments later when he headed another Toulson delivery against the crossbar.

Halifax were looking to close the game out with a clean sheet, but in the dying stages, the ball dropped kindly to Tom Rutter and he fired it into the bottom corner.

Meanwhile, midfielder Paul Marshall has signed for Blue Square Premier side Stockport County leaving the Shaymen after signing as a non-contract player from Port Vale in the close season.
