TOWN fans certainly have much to feel good about, both on the field and off it, at a time when some Premier League teams are making news for the wrong reasons.

Foreign ownership and massive debts are causing problems – look at clubs like Man U and Liverpool – and this week could well see Portsmouth going into administration.

The shock waves will reverberate around the football world, with many pundits beginning to look at alternative forms of ownership, not the least of them being Community/Supporter ownership as evidenced at some of the largest clubs on the Continent.

Town supporters will need no reminder of the dark days when our own club was in administration.

The Supporters Association continues to develop a working partnership with the current club hierarchy to protect fans’ interests as far as possible.

This includes a watching brief on financial prudence. Nobody wishes a return to insolvency. While that is highly unlikely with the present financial management at the club, we would do well to remember that owners don’t stay for ever and we, as supporters, should be ready, not only to get involved if anything goes wrong, but also to contribute what we can now to help prolong the present chairman’s stay. The feel good factor is here and we should try to stay involved for all the right reasons. So let’s get right behind the team again this Saturday.

The HTSA coach to Southampton will leave the Galpharm at 1.15pm on Tuesday and is priced at £20 and £18 junior concessions. It’s the same price the following Saturday to Gillingham with an 8am departure time. Please ring 07926 165863 to book your place or call into the cabin on Saturday morning before the 12.30pm kick-off against Leeds.

As usual, these prices are for HTSA members, including regional group members, of course. For non-members it’s £2 extra. Join the Association on the coach or visit www.htsa.co.uk
