We asked you who should stay and who should go, and it is Hogg who has the greatest claim for a new deal in the eyes of the fans - over 92% of those who voted want to see the midfielder stay at the John Smith’s Stadium beyond the summer.

Skipper Mark Hudson, already negotiating , is a wanted man, with 82.4% of fans believing he has earned a new deal, while 72.8% believe Karim Matmour should have his contract extended by the club.

At the other end of the spectrum, a measly 2.7% think that Ishmael Miller should be a part of next year’s squad, and the jury remains out on Academy graduate Duane Holmes with close to a 50/50 split on his future.

A total of 47.9% think he should be kept on next season after working his way through the youth ranks.

But when it comes to next year’s no.1, fans are very much in agreement that it should be current Aston Villa loanee Steer, who has had an excellent season between the posts.

Over 94% of voters want to see Steer back next year, while there was also widespread calls for the return of Jamie Paterson and Emyr Huws on permanent deals.

Meanwhile, only 56.6% of Town fans believe that Middlesbrough’s James Husband has done enough to warrant a permanent squad place next term.

But that is likely to be because of the speculation that Town’s first summer signing will be left back Chris Löwe, who comes with an attacking pedigree - 40 assists in a little over 200 appearances in the German leagues.

Now that Elvis Manu has returned to Brighton , David Wagner is free to select all five of his current loanees in each match day squad, and each will be keen to catch the eye in the remaining games - starting with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Hogg continues to be absent with a knee injury, while Kyle Dempsey will also be missing with a calf problem, but the international break should have given most players the opportunity to rest and recharge and Wagner will hope to have a strong squad for the weekend’s clash.

Full team news will be revealed at the manager’s press conference on Thursday.
