Both Huddersfield Town’s Under 23 and Under 18 sides drew their opening games in the Professional Development League II.

Frankie Bunn’s 23s (the age limit has gone up since last season) were held 1-1 by Charlton Athletic at PPG Canalside .

Rekeil Pyke levelled just before the break after Karlan Ahearne-Grant put the visitors ahead with a penalty.

Town’s side featured first-team squad members Kasey Palmer, Michael Hefele, Ivan Paurevic, Jason Davidson and Kyle Dempsey.

On-loan Chelsea midfielder Palmer, who came off the bench during Saturday’s 2-1 Championship win at Newcastle United, played the opening 45 minutes against Charlton.

Town are back in action at Watford on Monday (2.00).

Tony Carss’ 18s were held by a late Bristol City equaliser in a 2-2 draw in the West Country.

Luca Colville and Cedwyn Scott scored as the visitors twice led.

Town face Colchester United at Canalside on Saturday (11.00).
