HUDDERSFIELD footballers are being invited to a re-union.

A number of players, mostly from Royds Hall High School, played for Hebden Royd Red Star in the Halifax Junior League (at Under 16 level) in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The contact came through Peter Kennedy, who was a teacher at Royds Hall, and as Red Star are this season celebrating 100 years in Halifax football, a re-union has been organised.

It will be held at Mytholmroyd Community Centre on Saturday, May 30.

“We’ve already had some former players in touch and we think there will be a big turnout,” said Mr Kennedy.

“Some of the lads may still be in touch with each other and if we can get the message out that these celebrations are taking place, we hope they will all get in touch and come along.”

Those interested should contact Mr Kennedy on 01422 882784.
