STRIKER Michael Tunnacliffe gave Storthes Hall a flying start as they shot down fellow high-fliers Wibsey 3-1 away in the West Riding County Amateur League’s top flight.

Producing their best performance for a few weeks, Hall raced in front on eight minutes when Matt Mulvihill produced the perfect pass to set up Tunnacliffe to fire into the corner of the net.

They kept up the pace and three minutes later a Mulvihill shot clipped a post after he was put through by Jamie Miller’s flick-on from keeper Lee Pollard’s long ball.

Mulvihill had again gone close before Miller was twice denied on 20 minutes as Wibsey keeper Nicky Wade could only block his initial effort, while his shot from the rebound was cleared off the line.

Wade again did well to deny Chris Margis, but a minute before half-time the Wibsey keeper was beaten when a neat move involving Tunnacliffe and Dion Smith set up Miller to finish from eight yards.

The home side got into their stride in the second period and Pollard had to save well from a Declan Corby effort on goal.

Hall had to withstand a spell of sustained pressure but broke out on occasion with Mulvihill striking a good chance straight at Wade and the Wibsey keeper then did well again to deny a Miller effort.

Wibsey halved the deficit two minutes from time when Chris Wood headed in, but Hall finished in style a minute later when Liam Coughlan netted from 25 yards.

The semi-final of the Premier Division cup between Brighouse Town and Meltham Athletic is to be staged at Liversedge FC tomorrow night (7.30).
