AFC Emley maintained their 100% start to the Northern Counties East Division I season with a 3-0 victory at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Ian Banks’s side triumphed with a double from Dean Sidebottom and yet another goal from skipper Steve Kenworthy to send them into Saturday’s clash at Bottesford Town on a high (3.00).

Sidebottom took only three minutes to open the scoring, curling a powerful free-kick around the wall and past the home keeper, and he repeated the feat just a minute before the break after Kenworthy had been fouled 30 yards out.

On 64 minutes, Sidebottom had the chance to complete his hat trick from the penalty spot, but the keeper guessed correctly to his right and parried away the shot.

Kenworthy, who normally takes the penalties, earned his reward for standing aside by getting on the scoresheet only five minutes later, diving in to score with a header from Sidebottom’s cross.
