ROBBIE SIMPSON says he has no regrets about choosing Town over Norwich last summer.

The striker, pictured, was also a target of today’s Galpharm visitors when he signed from Coventry.

Joining the Norfolk club would have meant a return to familiar territory for Simpson, who was on Norwich’s books as a schoolboy.

“I had agreed to sign for Huddersfield without actually putting pen to paper before I had heard of Norwich’s bid to Coventry for me,” explained the former Cambridge player, who will be 25 on Monday.

“I did speak to them at the last minute but Lee Clark was a big influence on my decision. Once I’d met him it makes you want to play for him.

“I didn’t get the chance to meet Bryan Gunn, who was the Norwich manager then, but I did speak to the chief executive, David McNally, and he seemed like a great bloke.

“Once I had spoken to him it made it a tough decision, but I stuck with my morals and I’d stick by that decision now.”

Of today’s game, Simpson said: “With the bookies, Norwich might be favourites, but we're undefeated at home and even at their place I didn’t think there was a lot between the two teams.”
