Former Huddersfield Town manager Simon Grayson has ruled himself out of a Leeds United return.

The 44-year-old who led Town to promotion to the Championship in 2012 was Elland Road manager for more than four years from December 2008.

He is now in charge at Preston North End and says he has no intention of rejoining Leeds, who are looking for a successor to Dave Hockaday.

“Everybody knows about my affiliation with Leeds and I enjoyed my time there, but I am happy at Preston,” said Grayson, an Elland Road player who began his managerial career at Blackpool.

“Preston can’t do enough for me at this moment in time. They give me the opportunity to do what we are doing; we have got a good squad together and I have a real desire to get this team to the next level.

“The reports about Leeds are wide of the mark.

“People are going to speculate and put two and two together, but the club have had no approach, I’ve had no approach and that’s the end of the matter.”

Grayson had 11 months at the Town helm, departing in January 2013 after a run of 12 league games without a win.

Preston are seventh in League I.
