FORMER Town manager Peter Jackson is today looking for another job.

The 48-year-old was sacked yesterday by Lincoln City after winning just two of the first seven matches in all competitions.

Assistant Iffy Onuora, also an ex-Town star, was also dismissed by the board as first team coach Simon Clark and Head of Youth Tom Spall took over at Sincil Bank.

Jackson, hugely popular at Town as both a player and manager (he had two spells in charge at the Galpharm) took over at Lincoln following the departure of John Schofield in October 2007.

He fought back from throat cancer to enthusiastically continue in his job but this season, with the club struggling financially, they have made a slow start.

The final straw was losing in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy to Darlington on Tuesday night, because some sections of support had already turned against Jacko after a 2-0 home defeat to Burton and a 3-0 beating at Dagenham and Redbridge.

The board, announcing the reasons for their decision, blamed last season’s poor home form, which led to a drop in attendances, and the early exit from both the JPT and the Carling Cup this term.

Meanwhile, former Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd, another player to start his career at Town, has been named the new manager of League I Colchester.

The 38-year-old, who has been out of management since leaving Vicarage Road last November, replaces Paul Lambert after he quit to take over at Norwich last month.

Boothroyd led the Hornets to the Premier League in 2006, before they were relegated after one season in the top flight.

He also took them to the 2007 FA Cup semi-finals, but left by mutual consent after a poor start to the last Championship campaign.

TOWN’S November 14 home clash with Wycombe will be screened live on Sky Sports.

The game was scheduled to be a 3pm kick-off but has been moved to a 12.05pm start. It will be the Terriers first appearance on Sky this season.
