DAVE WATSON, the former Huddersfield Town and a current England goalkeeping coach, could be heading for Manchester City.

It’s reported the 39-year-old, who is at Norwich, could be recruited to Manuel Pellegrini's backroom staff at the Etihad.

City’s interest is down to the relationship former Barnsley and England Under 21 keeper Watson has forged with Joe Hart while working with him on international duty.

The pair were together at Birmingham, where Watson, whose playing career ended at 28 because of injury, worked from January 2008 until last July and Hart was on loan in 2009-10.

City must appoint a new mentor for Hart now Massimo Battara has left the Etihad Stadium as part of the clear-out of Roberto Mancini’s regime.

Watson was with Town during Mick Wadsworth’s season at the helm in 2002-03, having previously worked at Oldham. He has also been at Northampton and Nottingham Forest.
