Former Huddersfield Town midfielder Sondre Tronstad has signed a three-year deal with Norwegian club FK Haugesund.

The 20-year-old this week left Town by mutual consent six months ahead of the expiry of his contract.

Town had already decided not to take up their option of an additional year.

Signed from IK Start two years ago, the Norwegian junior international was unable to break into the first team.

His sole squad appearance was as an unused substitute in this season’s Championship opener at Hull City.

Tronstad made his debut for Start at 16 and helped them win promotion to Norway’s top tier, playing nine times at that level.

Haugesund are managed by former Sheffield United and Rotherham United midfielder and Cardiff City coach Mark Dempsey.

The Norwegian season starts in March and runs through the summer.
