Former Huddersfield Town skipper Peter Clarke looks set to leave Blackpool.

It’s believed the 33-year-old centre-back, who was in his second spell with the relegated Seasiders, will not be retained for next season’s League I campaign.

Clarke, released by Town a year ago, was a regular for Pool this season and rated one of the better performers in a side managed by his former Town boss Lee Clark.

The former England Under 21 international had a loan spell at Bloomfield Road from Everton in 2002 and played for Pool between 2004-06.

Clarke joined Town from Southend United in 2009, and made 224 appearances.

He scored from the spot at Wembley during the penalty shoot-out victory over Sheffield United in the 2012 League I play-off final.

Southport-based Clarke has played more than 550 games over his career.
