Former Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes has signed a new contract with Blackburn Rovers.

The prolific striker has put pen to paper on a deal that will tie him to the club until 2019.

The 24-year-old has scored 53 goals in 96 games for the Ewood Park outfit following his club-record £8m move from Town in August 2012.

Town are entitled to a 20% share of any future transfer fee for Rhodes and were keeping tabs on rumours Norwich City were considering a bid for the forward in the event Blackburn cashed in on their prized asset.

Rhodes, who was already under contract at Rovers until 2017, told the club's official website: "I'm delighted, I'm very happy.

"It is a fantastic football club and I'm very lucky to be here.

"I enjoy coming in every day and to have an extension of two more years on top of my current contract is a real bonus.

"The fans have been great ever since I've come in the place and I've just thoroughly enjoyed it so I'm delighted to be here."
